3-star hotels in Hermosillo

Hermosillo is a sprawling desert city, so a visitor's day is planned around the car: Sonoran steakhouses, the plaza and cathedral in the Centro, and the city's northern zone of modern hotels. Though the city's warmth is a big part of its appeal, the heat is strongest from June to August, when outdoor plans are best kept to the early morning and evenings are left for carne asada.

Most of the hotels on this shortlist line Boulevard Eusebio Kino or the García Morales corridor, the city's northern approach and airport road, with a few closer to the centre: Hotel Suites Kino on Pino Suarez in Colonia Centro, and Hotel Colonial Hermosillo in Villa de Seris. That spread makes the list easy to use: business travellers and couples can choose the Kino and García Morales addresses for the shortest transfers, while families and short-break visitors tend to favour the hotels with pools, family rooms and free parking.

Getting there and around

Hermosillo sprawls, and the city's own advice is blunt: everything moves by car or app, and the sun forgives no long walks. The listed hotels all offer free parking, so arriving by car is straightforward, and several sit on Boulevard Eusebio Kino or the García Morales corridor, the roads that lead in from the north and toward the airport. Fiesta Inn Express Hermosillo lists a shuttle service, and Bugambilia Hermosillo, Hotel Royal Palace, Hotel Suites Kino, ibis Hermosillo and Hotel Santorian offer car rental service on site.

When to go

The pleasant season runs from November to March, with warm days and cool nights, and it is also the busiest, along with expo and event weeks — book early for those. From June to August the extreme heat empties the city of visitors, so summer travellers should plan outdoor time before 10, take a pool or siesta at midday, and save evenings for carne asada. Weekends work year-round.
