About staying in Rosarito

Rosarito is the weekend beach for Tijuana and San Diego, and its prices behave accordingly. Bulevar Benito Juárez runs the whole show: hotels, bars, seafood counters and craft stalls in one walkable strip a block from the sand. South of town, the bluff-top towers between kilómetro 27 and 33 trade that convenience for pools, long views and quiet. Our 2026 scans logged just 8 hotels with a real price: from US$85 a night and a typical rate of about US$105, dear for Mexico because the demand is American and weekend-shaped. The honest catch is the water and the sky: the Pacific here is cold year-round, and from May into June the marine layer can grey out whole days.

Rosarito hotel FAQs

Where should I stay in Rosarito?

In the centre, along Bulevar Benito Juárez, if you arrive without a car: hotels, sand and seafood all on foot, at the cost of Friday and Saturday noise. In the southern corridor, kilómetro 27 to 33, if you want a pool, a view and quiet and don't mind driving for everything. Puerto Nuevo suits lobster pilgrims; Kilómetro 38 suits surfers.

When is it cheapest and most expensive?

Our 2026 scans logged rooms from US$85 and a typical rate of about US$105 across just 8 hotels: thin supply, priced off the US calendar. Cheapest is midweek and from November through February, when it is too cold to swim. Dearest: summer weekends, long American holiday weekends, spring break in March and Holy Week.

How do I get there and get around?

Most people cross at San Ysidro or Otay Mesa and drive 30 to 40 minutes down the 1D toll road, where booths run around MX$60 each. Flying, Tijuana airport is some 40 km away and reachable from the San Diego side through the Cross Border Xpress. Without a car, buses and route taxis from Tijuana cost roughly MX$40-60; in town you mostly walk.

How long is the trip back across the border?

Budget properly for it. Northbound waits at San Ysidro can run one to three hours, worst on Sunday afternoons; Otay Mesa is often quicker for cars, and Ready Lane or SENTRI help if you qualify. Walking across from Tijuana is another option. Leave early, keep documents to hand, and don't carry fruit or meat in the car.
