Rooms and rates

As with most hotels in Villahermosa, midweek nights tend to come in cheaper than weekends, and booking two or more weeks ahead widens the choice of rooms with free cancellation. The price you see after tapping “Check availability” is the live app.impt.io rate for your exact dates, not an estimate.

Location

Staybridge Suites Villahermosa by IHG is at Paseo Usumacinta 1504, Villahermosa, Mexico. That puts it about 2 km from the centre of Villahermosa's hotel district, based on the coordinates in our scans. The nearest city with a bigger hotel scene is Paraiso, about 53 km away — compare Paraiso hotels too if your plans are flexible. This page's “View on map” link opens the exact spot in Google Maps, so you can measure the journeys that matter to you.

The facilities, in detail

For food and drink, the hotel lists coffee. On the wellness side there's fitness center, gymnasium and swimming pool. Practical services include 24 hour front desk, 24h. security, business center, currency exchange, free car parking and laundry service. In the room itself: air conditioning, bathroom, free wifi, hairdryer, iron and board and safe. The full list of 58 facilities is below; double-check the ones that are deal-breakers when you book, as hotels adjust what they offer by season.

Good to know before you book

The booking flow is three steps: dates and guests in this page's widget, the live price on app.impt.io, and instant confirmation. Most rooms are offered with free cancellation until a few days before arrival — the exact deadline is shown next to each rate before you pay. Every confirmed booking also removes a tonne of CO₂ through IMPT's carbon-removal projects, at no extra cost to you. When comparing, note that the three-star rating reflects the hotel's declared standard; the guest reviews on this page tell you how it actually feels to stay.

Villahermosa for hotel guests

The Tabasco 2000 district, with the convention centre and corporate offices, holds the executive chains — the standard base — while the Centro and Zona Luz, by the Grijalva riverfront, offer cheaper rooms in the more storied part of town. Our 2026 scans logged 20 hotels with a real price: from US$40 a night and a typical rate of about US$74, following the working-city pattern: expensive midweek, soft weekends. Passing visitors come mostly for two things: the Olmec heads of Parque-Museo La Venta — an open-air museum amid lagoons and urban jungle — and the road to Palenque, two and a half hours away. Honestly: the climate is hot and humid all year, and the city is functional before it is photogenic. All hotels in Villahermosa →

I stay in Staybridge a lot in the US for work and am happy to see the level of service is just as good, even better, at this location. Wonderful buffet for the happy hour and breakfasts. Room was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful, laundry is included, gym is "ok". Not much parking for our large vehicle but they found a place for us next door. The area is very Walkable even a Starbucks right around the corner. Villahermosa is a vibrant city, easy to navigate and would absolutely stay at this location again!

Very disappointed in the way of acting of the manager today 15july 2025. Our road was blocked. We already drove 4.5 hours and have to go back for 5.5 hours to get to the hotel. Called and also by hotels.com but the manager refused to pay back the money. We are with 4 (2 small children) and cannot drive in the dark it is too dangerous but the manager doesnt matter.. so i will tell everybody not to book this hotel. Thanks to the manager

We had an amazing stay here. The service was amazing, the rooms outstanding, and the breakfast was the best we've ever had at any hotel. It changed daily and was exquisite. The rooms were well stocked and had everything you would need for a long, or short, stay.

Planning your trip to Villahermosa

When to go

Season matters less here than the working week, but the climate shapes the trip: hot and humid all year. The most bearable window runs November to February, with days of 28-32°C and nights cool enough to sleep through. Those months also bring the nortes — two or three grey days of wind and fine rain that you end up welcoming more than you expected.

March to May is the hard stretch: 35°C with heavy humidity and a heat index that punishes any plan on foot after eleven in the morning. It also holds the Feria Tabasco, from late April into early May, which fills hotels and lifts rates for a long week. If you can choose your dates, dodge it or book well ahead.

June to October rains properly, with afternoon downpours that last an hour and leave streets under water. September and October are the wettest and the likeliest for flooding — Tabasco remembers that well — and they also carried the softest rates in our scans. Travelling then is cheap and perfectly workable, given an umbrella and some flexibility.

Above any season sits the weekly rhythm: Monday to Thursday the city works and hotels price accordingly; on Friday demand collapses. A Saturday in Villahermosa costs noticeably less than a Tuesday. The exception is a big convention at the centre, which can strip the city of rooms with very little warning.

Getting there and around

Carlos Rovirosa Pérez airport sits east of town, 15-25 minutes from almost everywhere, with daily flights from Mexico City and links north. An authorised taxi runs about MX$250-400 at 2025 prices; ride-hailing apps operate and usually come in a little below, though terminal pickups sometimes mean walking a few metres to an agreed spot.

Overland, the ADO terminal near the centre is the natural gateway to the region: Palenque in about 2.5 hours, Campeche in 6, Mexico City in 10-11, plus frequent departures toward Coatzacoalcos and Veracruz. For Comalcalco and the nearby towns, second-class buses and colectivos do the job — slower, cheaper and entirely adequate.

In town, forget walking between zones: Villahermosa is spread out, shadeless and built around wide avenues. A city taxi runs roughly MX$60-100 and the apps work fine. If Comalcalco, the cacao route or the Paraíso coast is on the plan, a rental car earns its keep — with two caveats: Highway 186 has heavy stretches, and night driving in the rainy season is a bad idea.

Where to stay, zone by zone

Tabasco 2000 is the default base, and for good reasons: chain hotels with air conditioning that actually works, parking, breakfast and a meeting room, restaurants around, and Parque-Museo La Venta a short hop away beside the Laguna de las Ilusiones. This is where the city's typical rate — in the order of US$72 in our 2026 scans — plays out almost to the letter.

The Centro and Zona Luz play a different game: older hotels, some refurbished, pedestrian streets, the old-quarter museums and the Grijalva riverfront at the door. This is where the low end of the scan shows up, from around US$40. In exchange: daytime noise, uneven maintenance, and a centre that empties out after nine at night.

The Ruiz Cortines corridor and the Altabrisa area hold modern hotels beside malls and hospitals — comfortable with a car and practical if you are heading out early onto Highway 186. Charm, none; function, all of it. The same logic applies to the highway-exit hotels, worth it only if Villahermosa is a one-night stopover.

By profile: business or convention, Tabasco 2000 without argument; budget and a taste for walking the old quarter, the Zona Luz; family with a car, a pool hotel in Tabasco 2000 or along Paseo Tabasco — in this climate the pool is infrastructure; overnight stop for Palenque, anything with quick road access and an early breakfast.

Eating and going out

Tabasco's cooking is unlike anything else in the southeast and deserves a couple of serious meals: grilled pejelagarto or pejelagarto empanadas, river pigua, chipilín tamales, puchero, and plantain in every conceivable form. The Pino Suárez market downtown is the fastest way in: breakfast in the order of MX$70-120 at 2025 prices, eaten standing if the stools are taken.

Cacao is the other axis. Pozol and chorote — maize and cacao, cold, served in a gourd — are everyday drinks and make far more sense in this heat than any soft drink. The cacao-route haciendas toward Comalcalco run tastings and explain the process; an hour out of town, they fill a morning nicely.

For the evening, Tabasco 2000 and its avenues hold the restaurants and the air-conditioned bars; the Grijalva malecón is worth sunset and not much more. A set lunch runs about MX$100-150, a restaurant dinner MX$300-500 a head. The honest note: this is not a city for wandering late — locals take a taxi or an app after dark, the centre shuts early, and empty streets are best skipped.

Booking well

It is a short market: our 2026 scans logged 20 hotels with a real price, from US$40 a night with a typical rate in the order of US$72. Thin supply means a convention, a sports event or the Feria Tabasco can leave the city without decent mid-range rooms — and price whatever remains accordingly.

The obvious strategy: travelling midweek, book one or two weeks out and compare, because that is the corporate peak. For weekends there is room to improvise. If your dates hinge on meetings, a flexible rate costs a little more and spares you the penalty when the schedule shifts by a day.

Check three things before paying: that the air conditioning is in the room and not a ceiling fan, parking if you drive, and whether breakfast is included — the executive hotels usually throw it in. The prices here are 2026 observations, per night: confirm the live rate with the widget. And if Palenque is the real target, sleep there a night rather than driving five hours round trip.
