Where should I stay in Aguascalientes?
In the Centro, near the Plaza de la Patria or the San Marcos garden: the walkable, pretty part is there. The northern executive hotels suit work trips or drivers. During the fair, anything within walking distance of San Marcos is gold dust — and priced like it.
When is it cheapest and most expensive?
The Feria de San Marcos — about three weeks from late April to mid-May — is the absolute peak: multiplied rates and total occupancy. The rest of the year prices hold steady and weekends usually run cheaper, business-city style. The Festival de las Calaveras in November lifts things somewhat.
How do I get from the airport?
The airport lies south, 25-35 minutes from the Centro; a taxi runs about MX$300-450. By road the city connects well: 2 hours from Zacatecas or León, and around 6 from Mexico City by bus, with the terminal 10 minutes from the Centro.
What should I know before going?
That the climate is among Mexico's best — dry, sunny, cool nights at 1,880 metres — and the city is proud of its railways: the railway museum tells the origin story. The region's vineyards and wineries, 30-45 minutes out, fill a good half day. And at fair time, the bullring and the palenques are the heart of it.
