Overall the place is beautiful. The esthetics and old colonial style is 👌🏾. Also the ocean and sunsets and sunrises are inspiring. However, as someone who has been to a lot of all inclusive resorts all across Mexico, this place is underwhelming. First the drinks are watered down terribly. This is expected to some degree at most all inclusive resorts but once you have four "doubles" of your favorite margarita 🍹 and walk away without a hint of a buzz, something is clearly up. Second, there's a 15% service charge automatically assigned to every bill (all inclusive or not) but in many instances…

The resort itself is beautiful, with stunning views, multiple pools, a variety of activities, and well-maintained amenities. The restaurants, while overpriced, offered good food and a pleasant atmosphere. However, our overall experience was deeply disappointing due to the behavior of certain staff members, which completely overshadowed the positives. On our third day, we were abruptly woken up at 8:30 AM by a call from the front desk inviting us to collect a “welcome package.” Despite the early hour, we went down, expecting something thoughtful or useful. Instead, we were told the package inc…

Very nice property and beach, you can see whales from the pool! Its peaceful, but you are kinda trapped there, and you can't swim in the ocean due to tides. I recommend getting a car which you can park easily for free. They "say" there is a shuttle, but you have to book before you get there, and its very expensive. I recommend Uber. The second you check in, they tell you to go around the corner to see someone who tries to sell you time shares (other part of property w kitchens) and meal plans as its not all inclusive. You should bypass this. The restaurants are very slow and expensive. With 3…

Planning your trip to Cabo San Lucas

When to go

High season runs December to March: guaranteed dry skies, grey and humpback whales in the bay, and Mexico's highest prices — Christmas and New Year are another level entirely. May and June are the local secret: dry, uncrowded, reasonably priced before the deep heat.

August-September is hurricane season and the price floor: humid heat, real storm risk and serious discounts — refundable rates only. October brings the sport-fishing tournaments, which fill marinas and hotels for specific weeks.

The sea is warmest July to November; diving and snorkelling are at their best exactly when prices drop.

One more season worth naming: whale season, December to March, is not a side attraction here — boats leave the marina all day, the sightings are near-guaranteed, and hotels package tours aggressively. Book the boat independently at the dock or online; the same trip through a hotel desk often costs half again as much.

Getting there and around

Los Cabos airport (SJD) sits about 45 minutes from Cabo San Lucas. Shared shuttles run about US$20-30 per person at 2025 prices and private transfers US$80-100 per vehicle; there is no practical public transport with luggage. Compare the hotel's transfer with independent operators — the hotel does not always win.

Within Cabo, downtown and the marina walk; El Médano is reached on foot along the sand. Taxis are expensive by national standards — always agree first — and apps work unevenly.

The Corridor toward San José is covered by car or by the cheap, frequent local buses on the highway: that is how you reach Chileno and Santa María, the swimmable coves. The Arch is a boat hop from the marina — short rides from about US$15-25 per person in 2025, negotiable at the dock.

Where to stay, zone by zone

El Médano is the town's swimmable beach and its front line holds the most wanted resorts: waking up facing the Arch, sand-floor restaurants and the marina a stroll away. It is the rounded location — and priced like it: our 2026 scan put Los Cabos' typical rate at US$246, the country's highest, with entry from US$31 in the simple downtown hotels.

Downtown and the marina lower the bill and raise the noise: bars into the small hours, sport-fishing docks, walkable life. Good for mid budgets that prioritise going out.

The Corridor — the 30-kilometre highway to San José — is the land of self-contained luxury resorts on private coves: deliberate isolation, golf, and a car ride for everything. The Pacific side (Pedregal, Quivira) gives you the sunsets and open-ocean drama, with a sea for watching, not swimming. The honest decision: without a car or a taxi budget, sleep where you want to live — distances here charge by the trip.

By profile: party and marina, downtown; swimmable beach with kids, El Médano; golf-and-spa honeymoon, the Corridor; sunsets and weddings, the Pacific side; real budget, the downtown hotels five streets from the water — in Los Cabos every block inland discounts dollars. Anyone wanting a gallery town instead of a party should look directly at San José del Cabo.

A note on expectations: this is the least 'Mexican-priced' destination in the country — a beer on Médano costs what it costs in San Diego. Budget accordingly, and treat the inland taquerías as both the authentic meal and the relief valve.

Eating and going out

Cabo prices in dollars and its food shows it: marina-international restaurants, steak menus, resort sushi. Food with roots exists a few blocks inland: the downtown taquerías and marisquerías — minutes from the marina — serve fish tacos and chocolate clams at normal Mexican prices, MX$25-60 a taco in 2025.

The day's catch bought at the dock and cooked at a fonda is the local ritual few tourists perform. The full-stall rule applies here too.

Cabo's nightlife is famous and loud: the downtown party bars have spent decades perfecting organised mayhem. Two streets over, the marina offers the quiet-cocktail version. San José del Cabo, half an hour away, is the elegant night out: art district, galleries and long dinners — Thursday's Art Walk is the night to go.

Booking well

Los Cabos is the most expensive market in our 2026 scans: 65 hotels with real prices, from US$31 but with a typical rate of US$246 — the median says everything about the profile of the supply. The cheap entry exists downtown; Médano's front line and the Corridor live in another price universe.

December to March and tournament weeks, book two to three months out; the rest of the year, weeks. In August-September, refundable rates only — a hurricane on the forecast turns a rigid rate into a dead loss.

Checks that matter more here than anywhere: whether your hotel's beach is swimmable (most of the Pacific side and Corridor are not — El Médano, Chileno and Santa María are), the resort fee and its fine print, and the true cost of moving around from your location. Prices on this page are 2026 observations, per night; verify the live rate in the widget.

Two final pocket notes: nearly everything is quoted and charged in dollars — carry a card without foreign-currency fees and some pesos for taxis and stalls. And Los Cabos all-inclusive tends to exclude more than the Caribbean's: motorised sports, specialty restaurants, even the hotel's own best beach stretch — ask for the exclusion list in writing before choosing between two resorts.
