4.26619 reviewsWe stayed here for 2 weeks. The staff were super friendly and professional. The rooms were very clean and beds are super comfortable. View is spectacular. It can be a bit loud on the street but ear plugs helped and was perfect when sleeping. This hotel is walking distance to everything. The restaurant was excellent we had many meals and service and quality was superb. We felt very welcome as Gringos and would definitely come back again.
The hotel was great! We went in July of 2024. Great location, beautiful view.The staff was amazing everyone was nice. My kids loved the pool and the playground. Our rooms were nice and clean, and up to date. We were so blessed to find this nice hotel because we didn't even make reservations to go out there. We just walked up and asked if they had rooms available and they did. Thank you guys for a great stay.

Planning your trip to Mazatlan
When to go
High season runs November to April: dry, 25-28°C, long sunsets and northern visitors wintering here. The absolute peak is Carnaval — February or March depending on the year, among Mexico's biggest — when the malecón fills, hotels sell out and rates jump: book months ahead or steer around it.
From July to October humid heat rules: thirty-something degrees with mugginess, afternoon rains and the year's lowest prices — August to October is the floor. Holy Week is the other peak, with massive domestic tourism.
The sweet spot: November and early December, weather already dry and winter rates not yet in force.
A sea nuance: the Pacific here has a swell season — from May to October yellow and red flags are common on the open beaches — and the country's most photographed sunsets all year round. Adjust swimming expectations by month and keep Isla de la Piedra as the calm plan.
Getting there and around
The airport lies southeast, 30-40 minutes from the Zona Dorada: authorised transport about MX$400-600 per vehicle at 2025 prices, shared vans cheaper. Overland, the Durango highway and the La Paz ferry make Mazatlán a useful junction; buses reach Guadalajara in 6-7 hours.
The iconic ride is the pulmonía — the open-air local taxi: agree the fare before boarding, about MX$100-200 for city hops in 2025. The green buses run the shoreline for pocket change.
The malecón links almost everything on foot or by bike: 8 kilometres from the Centro to the Zona Dorada. For Isla de la Piedra, a boat from the embarcadero; for El Quelite and the sierra villages, a car or day tour.
Where to stay, zone by zone
The Zona Dorada is the classic beach strip: seafront hotels and resorts with decades of practice, a family crowd and mid prices — our 2026 scan put the city's typical rate at US$74, among the Pacific's most affordable. It works for a sand-and-pool holiday with zero logistics.
The Centro Histórico and Olas Altas are the Mazatlán with soul: restored plazas, the Ángela Peralta theatre, cafés and boutique hotels in 19th-century buildings facing the city beach. This is the zone for travellers who come for the city as well as the sea — and the one that has climbed most in a decade.
Cerritos and the new zone, north, line up condo towers and recent resorts: more open beach, more wind, more isolation — a car all but required. Our scan's US$29 entry price lives in the simple hotels of the Centro and its surroundings.
By profile: classic family holiday, the Zona Dorada; couple with cultural leanings, the Centro and Olas Altas; a months-long winter stay, the kitchenette hotels of the Dorada and Cerritos; budget, the streets behind the Pino Suárez market. Surf has its corner: the northern points toward Cerritos, with schools and board rentals — not Sayulita, but it delivers.
A pin-check note: 'Mazatlán' listings run 20-plus kilometres up the coast to Cerritos and beyond — fine for isolation with a car, a daily taxi bill without one. Measure the distance to the malecón before booking cheap and far.
Eating and going out
Mazatlán is seafood with a Sinaloa accent: aguachile as local religion, ceviches, wood-fired zarandeado and shrimp in every form. The midday marisquerías — Centro to Dorada — serve plates for about MX$120-250 in 2025; seafood carts and market kitchens come in under MX$100.
The usual rule with the usual caveat: raw dishes at midday, turnover in sight. Coffee on Plazuela Machado with sweet bread from the Centro bakeries is breakfast with a stage.
At night, two registers: Plazuela Machado — open-air tables, soft music, the theatre next door — and the Zona Dorada with its beach bars and veteran discos. At Carnaval everything above multiplies by ten and the malecón is the party itself.
A timing tip: the Mazatlán marisquería is a midday institution — the best rooms open at eleven and are stacking chairs by five. Dine inland or on the Machado, and save the aguachile for lunch, which is when the city does it seriously.
Booking well

Winter brings the long-stay northern crowd: the Dorada's kitchenette hotels fill with multi-week bookings, so move early for January-February.

Two calendar notes: Motorcycle Week in April fills the malecón with engines and the shoreline hotels with riders — book it or dodge it according to your noise tolerance.
