About staying in Nuevo Laredo

People come to Nuevo Laredo with a reason: crossing into Texas, clearing a customs matter, or sleeping before the run down to Monterrey. It is not a sightseeing city, and it is fairer to say so up front. Hotels split between the Centro, beside international bridges 1 and 2, and the Bulevar Luis Donaldo Colosio corridor out toward the airport and the industrial parks, where the chains that live off freight traffic sit. Our 2026 scans found only 6 hotels with a real price: from US$73 a night, with a typical rate of about US$93. Steep for what the city offers, because business travel sets the price here.

Nuevo Laredo hotel FAQs

Which area should I book?

It depends how you arrive. If you walk across Bridge 1, the Centro — Avenida Guerrero, Plaza Hidalgo, the Mercado Maclovio Herrera — puts everything on foot, in older and plainer hotels. If you drive or you are here for work, the Bulevar Luis Donaldo Colosio corridor holds the chains with gated parking and breakfast, though nothing there is walkable.

When are rooms cheapest?

Demand is business-driven, so weekends usually soften and Tuesday and Wednesday nights are the tightest. December, when Mexicans living in the US drive home, and long holiday weekends fill the corridor midweek. Our 2026 scans logged rooms from US$73 and a typical rate of about US$93, with little swing: supply is thin, so low season does not collapse prices.

How do I get in and get around?

Most people arrive by crossing: Bridge 1 is the pedestrian one, Bridge 2 carries cars, and the Colombia bridge, 40 km northwest, usually flows better if you drive. Quetzalcóatl airport has minimal service, so many fly into Laredo (LRD) or Monterrey. In town it is taxis, price agreed beforehand, roughly MX$80-150 a ride.

What should I know about crossing?

Heading beyond the border zone you need an FMM tourist card, and with a foreign-plated car a temporary import permit from the Banjercito module at the bridge. Queues balloon on long weekends, through December and at factory shift-change. Cross in daylight, leave slack in your schedule, and never book anything tight right after the border.
