The facilities, in detail
For food and drink, the hotel lists room service. On the wellness side there's fitness center. Practical services include 24 hour front desk, business center, currency exchange, laundry service and luggage storage. In the room itself: air conditioning, free wifi, iron and board, safe and wifi. Good to know before you book
The booking flow is three steps: dates and guests in this page's widget, the live price on app.impt.io, and instant confirmation. Most rooms are offered with free cancellation until a few days before arrival — the exact deadline is shown next to each rate before you pay. Every confirmed booking also removes a tonne of CO₂ through IMPT's carbon-removal projects, at no extra cost to you. When comparing, note that the three-star rating reflects the hotel's declared standard; the guest reviews on this page tell you how it actually feels to stay.
Nuevo Laredo for hotel guests
It is not a sightseeing city, and it is fairer to say so up front. Hotels split between the Centro, beside international bridges 1 and 2, and the Bulevar Luis Donaldo Colosio corridor out toward the airport and the industrial parks, where the chains that live off freight traffic sit. Our 2026 scans found only 6 hotels with a real price: from US$73 a night, with a typical rate of about US$93. Steep for what the city offers, because business travel sets the price here. 4.02178 reviewsAmazing service, amazing hotel staff!!!!!!! clean rooms feels like a brand new hotel!!! 10/10 best hotel in nuveo Laredo!!! Recently remodeled I would recommend this hotel to anyone!!! Thanks, Devis
We had reservations for two rooms but one of the rooms was still occupied and had to wait 10 minutes for the staff to find another room. Overall, the rooms were clean and the bathrooms clean and stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body lotion. They are remodeling so some services did not work, like the phones in the rooms and some of the lights.
Although, I cannot speak to an actual stay at hotel City Express, I can provide internal suggestions for improvement. Overall consensus , housekeeping services seemed rushed, with occasional missed details. 1) Hire additional overnight hospitality/laundry staff: This will ensure that essential services are maintained throughout the night, leading to a cleaner and more comfortable environment for guests. 2) Implement fair scheduling practices: This includes ensuring adequate breaks, limiting overtime, and allocating tasks based on individual strengths and experience. These changes will not…
Planning your trip to Nuevo Laredo
When to go
March and April, October and November are the comfortable months: 25-30°C by day, cool nights, steady sun. That is the window when walking the Centro or standing in a bridge queue does not turn into an endurance test. No tourist season pushes rates here, so what moves the calendar is business, not holidays.
May through September the heat is serious: 38-42°C often enough, dry air but a brutal sun and asphalt that keeps radiating well after dark. Air conditioning that actually cools is not an upgrade in those months. If the hotel is an older property, ask before you commit.
Winter is mild and occasionally deceptive. Northers drop the temperature ten or fifteen degrees in a few hours, with wind and drizzle, and the odd dawn flirts with freezing. December also brings the paisano traffic heading home from the US: jammed bridges and corridor hotels full on weeknights.
Getting there and around
You mostly arrive by crossing. International Bridge 1 (Gateway to the Americas) is the pedestrian one and drops you straight onto Avenida Guerrero; Bridge 2 (Juárez-Lincoln) takes cars; Bridge 3 (World Trade Bridge) is freight only. The Colombia bridge sits about 40 km northwest — a long detour, but usually faster if you are driving.
By air, Quetzalcóatl airport (NLD) runs a bare-bones schedule, essentially to Mexico City. Plenty of travellers fly into Laredo, Texas (LRD) and walk over, or land in Monterrey and come up by road. The bus station links to Monterrey in about three hours on the toll highway, with fares of roughly MX$400-700 depending on the line.
Around town it is taxis: no meters, agree the fare first, and expect something like MX$80-150 for a city run. Local buses cost MX$12-15 and are useful if you are out on Colosio without a car, though the routes are not obvious to a first-timer. Your own vehicle makes everything simpler.
The honest part: Tamaulipas carries the US State Department's most severe travel advisory, and local advice never varies. Drive only in daylight, stick to the toll highway toward Monterrey, skip secondary roads, and do not wander unfamiliar areas after dark. Between hotel and restaurant, take a taxi rather than walk.
Where to stay, zone by zone
The Centro, around Avenida Guerrero and Plaza Hidalgo, is the walkable zone: bridges 1 and 2 are on foot, along with pharmacies, exchange houses, taquerías and the Mercado Maclovio Herrera. The hotels are older and basic. It works if you cross without a car, though the streets empty out early in the evening.
The Bulevar Luis Donaldo Colosio corridor, running toward the airport and the industrial parks, is where the chain hotels that keep the city running are: gated parking, breakfast, reliable air conditioning, a meeting room. It is what hauliers, customs brokers and plant staff choose. The trade-off is that every outing means a taxi.
With just 6 hotels carrying a real price in our 2026 scans, the choice is short and fairly uniform: from US$73 a night, typical around US$93. Do not expect boutique rooms, courtyards or views. Expect a clean bed, cold air and somewhere secure to leave the car overnight.
The honest alternative: many people sleep on the Laredo, Texas side and cross in daylight for their appointment. If your meeting is early and you have US plates, that spares you a night crossing. If you are heading down to Monterrey, or your business is with Mexican customs, staying here makes more sense.
Eating and going out
The food is northern and it is good: grilled beef, cabrito, machacado con huevo for breakfast, trompo tacos after midnight. The Mercado Maclovio Herrera is the obvious stop for gorditas and a set lunch, and the taquerías around the Centro handle dinner for very little money.
Rough 2025 orders of magnitude: a set lunch between MX$100 and 150, street tacos at MX$20-30 each, a grill for two in a tablecloth restaurant somewhere around MX$600-900. The working breakfast is close to a local institution, and corridor hotels usually fold it into the rate.
Nights are a different matter. Nuevo Laredo has no bar scene worth travelling for, and the Centro thins out after nine. What remains is restaurants and a handful of places in the south of the city, all of them a drive away. Arriving late, eat near your hotel and leave it there.
Booking well
Book ahead even though the city looks quiet. Six hotels with a real price means a long weekend, a transport industry gathering or the December rush can leave you without a room midweek. Weekends usually loosen up, since the demand is professional and most of it goes home on Friday.
Confirm three things: gated parking if you are driving, the latest check-in time in case the bridge holds you up, and whether breakfast is in the rate. Always take the free-cancellation option — border plans change over a three-hour queue or a permit that takes longer than promised.
Check the hotel's location on a map before you pay. There are several kilometres between the Centro and the airport zone, and saving ten dollars on the room does not survive two taxis a day. Our 2026 scans set the honest range: from US$73, typical about US$93, with few surprises in either direction.
