This is a very special resort. Nested in the middle of the desert, they’ve done a perfect job, blending the architecture with the natural environment. The service is very spectacular. This is the type of hotel that’s constantly looking to delight and surprise you. They have two restaurants on site that are fantastic. The pool is on the beach and is serviced with a full staff. Botanical garden on site provides a wonderful walking environment. They also have goats in the back, which are a delight to say hello to in the morning.
Wonderful stay, but a few billing issues My spouse and I stayed here in May and really enjoyed the hotel, our room, and the restaurants — everything was fantastic. Unfortunately, I was double-charged for dinner at one of the restaurants, a massage discount was missed, and drinks were quite small for the price. I’ve reached out to the hotel several times, but the refund hasn’t been processed yet. Just a warning to check your bill carefully when checking out and dealing with any discrepancies onsite.
Planning your trip to El Pescadero
When to go
November to April brings the best weather: days of 24 to 27°C, cool nights, dry skies and a northerly wind that sometimes grooms the waves. It is also the expensive stretch, peaking at Christmas, New Year and Holy Week. Whales pass offshore between December and April and can be spotted from land on clear mornings.
May and June are the quiet window: dry heat that bites by midday, warming water, few visitors and everything still open. If you are here to surf, this is when the south swells start arriving. Rates ease off winter levels without the town running at half speed.
July to October is humid and hot, 32 to 35°C with heavy nights. It is hurricane season, with the real risk concentrated in August, September and early October, and many restaurants shut for weeks in September. In exchange, this is when the lowest prices appear and the ocean is at its warmest.
The surf calendar does not match the weather calendar. Cerritos breaks most of the year, but winter brings tidier northwest swells while summer souths can turn big. Beginners want any small day; anyone on a shortboard should check the forecast before locking in dates and a non-refundable rate.
Getting there and around
Los Cabos airport (SJD) is about 100 km away: you cross San José and Cabo San Lucas, then head north on Highway 19, a good ninety minutes with traffic. La Paz airport is a comparable distance on the same road, with less city to fight through and a handsome desert stretch instead.
Renting a car is the sensible move. Budget for the compulsory third-party liability insurance, which usually doubles the advertised price; in 2025 a fully covered compact ran on the order of MX$800 to MX$1,200 a day. Fill up in Todos Santos or Cabo out of habit, and avoid driving Highway 19 after dark: loose cattle, no lighting.
You can manage without a car, slowly. The buses connecting La Paz with Cabo San Lucas stop on the highway several times a day for something like MX$200 to MX$350, but they leave you at the junction, not at the beach. Local taxis are few and not cheap: reckon MX$300 or more to Todos Santos.
Locally, everything comes down to the roads. The Cerritos access is paved at first and then turns to dirt, and heavy rain leaves serious potholes. A car with some clearance saves grief, and a bike covers short hops, though the midday sun makes that a morning-only proposition.
Where to stay, zone by zone
Cerritos Beach has the most supply and is the only place where you sleep on the sand. It is mainly rental houses and apartments, plus a few small properties and the odd beachfront hotel. Upside: you walk to the water. Downside: the beach clubs play music until sunset and parking gets messy in high season.
El Pescadero town, alongside Highway 19, is the practical, cheaper choice. You get a tortillería, small shops, taco stands and people who live here year-round, but no view and two or three kilometres to the beach. It works if you have a car and would rather spend your money on dinner than on an ocean-facing balcony.
North towards San Pedrito and Todos Santos, accommodation scatters between orchards and isolated lots. This is the quietest and most cut-off option: without a car it does not function. If you want galleries, more restaurants and far more hotel choice, Todos Santos is twelve kilometres away and makes a workable alternative base.

Eating and going out
This is genuine farm country: basil, chillies, organic vegetables and small growers who supply Todos Santos and Cabo. It shows on the plate. There is seasonal cooking built around local produce and a handful of dining rooms that fill up all winter, so book a few days ahead between December and March.
The cheap version lives on the highway and in town: taco stands, seafood and set lunches. In 2025 a taco ran roughly MX$30 to MX$45 and a full comida corrida around MX$150 to MX$200. At the beachfront places with a view, a main course climbs easily past MX$300, drinks on top.
Nightlife is essentially nonexistent, and that is part of the deal. Beach clubs wind down shortly after sunset, there is live music here and there, and little else. If you want bars running late, Cabo San Lucas is an hour down the road, with the obvious caveat about driving back.
For supplies: small shops and seasonal produce stands; the nearest full supermarket is in Cabo or La Paz. ATMs are scarce and charge fees, so arrive with pesos in cash. Several businesses close for weeks in September, so ask before building a trip around one particular place.
Booking well
Supply is the deciding factor here. With so few hotels carrying a real price in our scans, Christmas, New Year and Holy Week simply sell out, and nothing turns up last minute. Book months ahead for those dates; for the rest of the winter, three or four weeks is usually enough.
Read what the rate includes. Service or resort fees are common in this area, breakfast is often extra and airport transfers are quoted separately. Add VAT and the state lodging tax on top. A US$88 room that looks like a bargain can land meaningfully higher once the booking is confirmed.
Choose flexible cancellation if you are travelling between August and October. A hurricane or tropical storm can cut roads and power for days, and rigid policies get expensive fast. The same applies to rental houses, where terms are usually stricter than at a conventional hotel.
Before paying, ask three concrete questions: how far it is to the beach and whether the last stretch is dirt road, whether hot water and power run on solar, and how reliable the internet is if you plan to work. Arriving without a car? Confirm the distance to the highway and whether anyone can collect you.
