Room: very bad smell of paint. Very small window.very difficult for people with asthma. There were a lot of ants in the room Service: didn't put water in rooms , receptionist (a women) not nice at all, Only a receptionist named jefat was very nice . When describing our stay and considering a rating for the am Hotel and Plaza, one needs to consider the context of both. So here it goes. We have traditionally visited the CanCun area of Mexico. Puerto Morelos specifically. 25 years ago PM was an idyllic little fishing village. Quaint. Friendly. Non commercial. Layed back. Exactly what we needed it to be. No more. Huatulco is Oaxaca's planned coast: nine bays, dozens of beaches, and a development that left more jungle than concrete. The zones divide cleanly. Tangolunda is the bay of the big resorts, many all-inclusive, on their own beach. La Crucecita is the town — simple hotels, the market, taquerías — 10 minutes from the bays and home to the best prices. Santa Cruz has the pier, the marina and a friendly town beach; Chahué sits between, quiet and growing. Our 2026 scans logged 37 hotels with a real price: from US$40 a night and a typical rate of about US$93 — markedly cheaper than the Caribbean's big resorts or Los Cabos. Honestly: nightlife is short here and the loveliest beaches are earned by boat or dirt track; you come to Huatulco to slow down.
