Toluca is a working city with a handsome centre, where the Cosmovitral's stained glass and the arcaded streets make a good morning, and green chorizo is the local thing to eat. Most of the hotels here sit outside the historic core: several line Paseo Tollocan, the broad avenue that carries traffic through the city, while another group clusters on Boulevard Miguel Alemán toward the airport, and one sits on the road to Metepec, itself a pueblo mágico 20 minutes from central Toluca.

The mix suits different trips. Business travellers are well served by the Tollocan and industrial-corridor addresses, many with a business centre, fitness room and free parking. Early flights are easier from the airport hotels on Boulevard Miguel Alemán, several of which run a shuttle. Couples and short-break visitors may prefer the addresses closer to the centre or toward Metepec for its restaurants. Families get family rooms at several properties, and a few hotels sit in the Colonia Santa Ana Tlapaltitlan area or the Américas neighbourhood.

Getting there and around
